GPT-4o – It’s Kind of a Big Deal
OpenAI has done it again.
And they did it one day before Google IO, likely just to beat them to it.
On Monday, they unveiled GPT-4o, their latest and greatest AI model, along with some seriously impressive upgrades to 100 millions user’s beloved ChatGPT. And I have to tell you, this is big news.
If you’ve ever seen the movie “HER” with Joaquin Phoenix, people are saying they basically built Samantha – the AI his character develops a relationship with due to the capabilities, personality and life-like voice.
The “o” stands for “omni,” which means this model can handle text, voice, and even visual input across a 50+ languages. Simultaneously.
It’s like having an assistant that can understand and communicate in almost any way you want – and honestly – is one early preview closer to what a world with AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) will look like.
And naturally that alone wasn’t good enough. GPT-4o is fast.
We’re talking response times that are close to human level.
Consider what it’s going to feel like now having a conversation with an AI that feels as natural as chatting with a friend on the phone. That’s the kind of experience GPT-4o is giving us.
And it doesn’t stop there.
GPT-4o can analyze images, screenshots, documents, and charts that you share, providing relevant information and insights better and more comprehensively than ever. And they’re releasing a native Mac app which was possibly one of the smartest moves they could surprise us with.
Own the desktop vertical and own the the channel.
But here’s the best part.
OpenAI is making this incredible technology accessible to everyone.
GPT-4o will be available for free to all ChatGPT users, with the features rolling out over the coming weeks. And if you’re a paid ChatGPT Plus or Teams subscriber, you’ll get early access and even higher usage limits.
As of today, I already have it on my accounts and it’s so good.
Similar to what Zuck just did with Llama by rolling their AI out to billions with Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, they’re going for mass adoption making it easy and free to use the best the have for the everyone.
For all the developers, GPT-4o will be accessible via API, at half the price and with higher rate limits compared to GPT-4. This means you can start building some seriously amazing applications with this powerful tool and I’m releasing a podcast all on this next week with more thoughts on my approach.
OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati put it perfectly: GPT-4o represents a huge step forward in making interaction with AI more natural and easier. And that’s what it’s all about – making advanced technology accessible and beneficial for everyone.
So, here’s my challenge to you: get ready to work with AI like never before.
