🎓 How AI is Changing Education
Educators are sharing firsthand accounts of integrating tools like ChatGPT—some see a bright future while others have concerns.
Key Facts
- 📚 Mixed Reactions: Educators are experiencing both benefits and challenges integrating AI into teaching.
- 🎒 Shifting Dynamics: AI is altering lesson planning, grading, and student engagement strategies.
- 🤔 Ethical Considerations: Concerns about plagiarism and over-reliance on technology are rising.
This topic hits close to home for me.
I remember when learning meant flipping through textbooks and scribbling notes by hand.
I’m 43 now and may have been ahead of the curve getting “online” in the early 90’s with CompuServe and Prodigy, but I wasn’t using those valuable dial-up hours on homework. That’s what my encyclopedia set was for.
And I don’t think I really even latched on to the ‘research’ ability of the internet until the late 90’s when I was in high school.
Meanwhile, my 12 year old has been using ChatGPT and Perplexity in 6th grade (for over a year).
Now, students have AI at their fingertips & it’s a reality that brings excitement and apprehension in parallel.
Imagine being a teacher today (it’s hard for me to).
On one hand, AI could personalize learning, tailoring lessons to each student’s pace and style. On the other, there’s fear that students turn to use AI as a crutch, missing out on developing critical thinking skills.
How do we strike the right balance?
It’s about guiding the next generation to use these tools responsibly and we teach them how AI can enhance creativity rather than replace it.
For example, students could use AI to generate ideas and then build upon them with their unique perspectives.
Or in my case, when my girls ask me how to help with math homework I’ve long forgotten existed, now we can use AI with vision to make sense of it, break it down and help them like a personal tutor.
What are your thoughts? If you’re a parent, educator, or someone passionate about learning, how do you see AI shaping the future of education?
🇯🇵 NVIDIA and Japan’s AI Revolution: A Global Implication
‘Every Industry, Every Company, Every Country Must Produce a New Industrial Revolution,’ Says NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at AI Summit Japan.
Key Facts
- 🌟 Global Call to Action: NVIDIA’s CEO emphasizes the need for a new industrial revolution powered by AI.
- 🤝 Strategic Collaboration: NVIDIA and SoftBank are building Japan’s most powerful AI supercomputer.
- 🤖 AI and Robotics: Japan is uniquely positioned to lead in both digital and physical AI advancements.
At the recent NVIDIA AI Summit in Japan, CEO Jensen Huang painted a vivid picture for those in attendance: AI isn’t just advancing—it’s revolutionizing.
I know we’re all over that word. But seriously, this time it’s the one we need to read.
And Japan stands at the forefront of this movement because of it’s history and culture of innovation.
The collaboration with SoftBank to build a cutting-edge AI supercomputer isn’t just a tech upgrade; it’s a statement, and a precedent.
From healthcare to manufacturing, it’s a global call to action.
Whether you’re running a startup or a seasoned enterprise, the message is clear—AI is reshaping the business landscape. And we, as leaders and innovators, must embrace this shift to stay ahead.
I feel this too.
- Things that used to take me hours, I can automate in minutes
- Tasks I needed five contractors for, can now get done with only one
- Mundane things I used to consider just not doing anymore and take the loss, now can become fun again
Consider how AI can optimize your operations, enhance customer experiences, or even create new revenue streams. I am, and this is why I love this space.
Still unsure? Let’s not forget the man who made this statement (Jensen) built a business now worth $3.48 Trillion dollars.
The opportunities are right in front of us, and the time to act is now.
📱 Google’s Gemini – All The Mixed Thoughts
What if your phone could do more than answer questions—what if it could hold meaningful conversations? What if they go wrong?
Key Facts
- 🚀 Standalone AI App: Google is testing the Gemini app for iPhone, bringing advanced AI conversations to your pocket.
- 🗣️ Gemini Live Feature: Engage in natural, voice-based dialogues with the AI chatbot.
- 🌍 Broader Access Soon: Currently in select markets, but expected to roll out more widely.
Google’s move to introduce the Gemini app on iOS is a testament to how AI is becoming more integrated into our daily lives, even from Google themselves who stand to risk losing the most with search.
Think about discussing your next big idea with an AI that can provide real-time insights, suggestions, and even help you map out a plan—all through a casual conversation on your phone. We’re seeing signs of this coming to life – and these are the ideas that are driving Gemini’s momentum.
But what happens when it goes terribly wrong as well?
I had this conversation in my Slack Community last week, where I found that Gemini was having a seemingly normal conversation with a user when it went fully off the rails and [literally] told the person to die.
It’s actually really frightening and hard to read, so I’m not copy/pasting it here but will link to it 🔗 if you wish to see for yourself.
I want to remind everyone that AI is not (nor ever will be) perfect. Hell, remember the movie Tron? The writing was on the wall.
But zoom out.
- Airplanes still go down, but we continue to fly
- Cars still crash but we drive them daily
- We know certain foods are horrible for us but we eat them..
Some things are in our control, others are outside of it, and we find the balance in life in every aspect.
If you’re looking for how to navigate this, it’s is why we’re here.
