This Week In AI

Fast Foundations This Week In AI

It’s a holiday weekend here in the US and we spent a bunch of time away with the family. For this week I wanted to share a bunch of awesome things I found in no particular order so you can check out what’s most interesting to me!

This week will be short and sweet, but there is some GOLD in here.

Generative Imagery:

  • Ideogram v2 launched: One of my favorite free image generation sites and now it absolutely blows away the others with text in images. In fact this main graphic above was made there with the prompt: “simple header that says “This Week in AI” with an AI/tech feel. minimal. on a second line below write “All the links”
  • Krea AI now includes Flux 1, an advanced text-to-image model, offering various styles, image variations, different aspect ratios, and 3-minute free image generations for non-subscribed users. Beautiful interface with really unique creations.

Generative Video:

  • D-iD launched AI Video Translate, a feature that instantly generates multilingual videos by cloning the speaker’s voice and adjusting their lip movements to match the translated words in seconds.
  • Minimax is a new Chinese video startup that offers free video generation while it’s being tested and has some of the most natural movements I’ve seen yet.

Large Language Models:

  • Claude Artifacts is now accessible to all users, including those on mobile apps as well they are testing a new Magnum Opus version of their largest model.
  • Nvidia and Mistral have released Mistral-NeMo-Minitron 8B, a compact language model that runs on laptops and PCs, outperforming Mistral-7B and Meta-Llama 3.1-8B on the Open LLM leaderboard, highlighting the rapid advancement of small models. This is big because it’s showing signs of abilities to use LLM tech on local devices better than ever, not needing to be using proprietary large respources!
  • Grok (iOS) on 𝕏 now includes new features like image generation suggestions, an improved model selector, and more enhancements.

Also These Are Awesome:

  • Cursor recently released their newest version of their AI code editor and the internet is losing it’s mind. I installed it and in less than an hour of using it am hooked. If you’ve been considering trying one of these, you have to give Cursor a shot.
  • Synthflow introduced ‘Synthflow White Label,’ a new voice AI solution for agencies that allows users to fully customize the company’s no-code AI voice platform for their clients.
  • Salesforce has launched two innovative AI-driven sales agents: the Einstein SDR Agent, available 24/7 to interact with inbound leads, and the Einstein Sales Coach Agent, offering live suggestions during sales calls. This signifies a continued shift in the sales industry from one of the titans.

Tweets That Matter

Seemingly cool at face value, but take a moment to process the size of what this accomplishes. In just 122 days, Elon’s team assembled their farm of 100,000 of NVIDIA’s top-of-the-line GPUs.

Each H100 costs about $30,000. That’s about a 3 billion investment, not to mention everything else that goes with it.

At 100k in the array, that beats every other player in the space including but not limited to Meta, Google, and OpenAI… and they’re looking to double it in a few months.

The rate of advancement and money pouring into AI is mind-numbing. It’s time we pay attention and find how to integrate it into our business… today.
